Mathias Health + Performance treats a wide range of musculoskeletal issues in Dublin, Ohio: acute pain, nerve problems, nagging injuries, and post-surgical recovery. Dr. Mathias gets to the root of what’s going on and builds care around what you actually need.
Pain doesn’t always mean damage. Often something is overloaded.
Most people walk in worried that pain means there is significant damage to a joint, muscle, disc or nerve. Often, it’s not. Pain is your body flagging an area that isn’t handling stress well, tissue that’s been overloaded, a movement pattern putting too much stress in one place, or a structure that needs more support. Our job is to read that signal clearly and address what’s actually driving it.

Back & Nerve
When it shoots, pinches, or stops you cold.
Low back pain, including the kind that feels like your back could go out at any second. Sciatica and nerve pain shooting down the leg. Disc herniations and bulges. SI joint pain, which often mimics low back pain or sciatica. Spinal-based numbness and tingling.
Neck pain and stiffness, including the feeling that it’s pinched when you turn. Headaches, many of which start in the neck and upper back. Shoulder pain, including rotator cuff irritation and impingement.
Hip pain that can be affected by the low back, knee, or how you move. Knee pain from everyday overuse to post-surgical recovery. Because symptoms can be influenced by the joints and tissues around them, we assess the whole region to identify what’s contributing, then restore function with hands-on treatment and progressive loading.
The aches and injuries that build from doing the same thing over and over.
Golfer’s elbow and tennis elbow. Wrist and hand pain from repetitive stress. Back, hip, and shoulder pain. Tendon irritation and muscle strains from training, sport, or repeated activity.
Treatment uses load management, hands-on care, dry needling, and progressive exercise to address the irritated tissue while improving the strength and movement needed to keep doing what you do.

Post-surgical rehab
Bridging the gap from surgery to full function.
This is where a lot of people fall through the cracks. Many patients are released from physical therapy when the insurance company says they’re done, or when they meet the minimum functioning level for discharge. Either way, you’re left good enough, but not functioning at a high level. Dr. Mathias completed an internship with the Cincinnati Reds team surgeon and has extensive experience with recovery after:
Rotator cuff repair
ACL and meniscus procedures
Joint replacement
Spinal fusion and discectomy
If you’ve had surgery and your progress has stalled, we can help close the gap between surgical discharge and getting your body back.
How we approach treatment
An honest assessment, an honest timeline.
Every visit starts with a conversation and a movement assessment, not a preset protocol. Treatment may include chiropractic adjustments, dry needling, muscle release therapy, and progressive rehab, often in the same session. We take a less-is-more approach with an honest timeline up front, and we aim to get you to the point where you don’t need us for the same thing twice. Anything outside our scope gets referred to the right specialist.

We don’t chase symptoms. We find the source.
Questions, answered
What people ask about the conditions we treat.
Yes, in many cases. Disc herniations and bulges often respond well to conservative care, including gentle chiropractic adjustments, dry needling, and movement-based rehab. Dr. Mathias will assess your situation and tell you whether conservative treatment is appropriate or whether imaging or a referral is the right next step.
Yes. Dr. Mathias has experience with rehab after rotator cuff repair, ACL and meniscus surgery, joint replacement, and spinal fusion. If your recovery has plateaued, we can help.
Yes, and that’s what sets us apart. Because Dr. Mathias is both a chiropractor and a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, he can address the pain and the underlying weakness during your care instead of sending you in two directions.
It’s not too late, but chronic pain needs a different approach than acute pain. Long-standing issues often involve nervous system changes and built-up compensations. We take all of that into account and build the plan accordingly.
Yes, we see this often. If you’ve tried other options without success, it usually means the real driver of the problem wasn’t clearly identified. A thorough assessment and an honest conversation can make a meaningful difference.
